Hello,

We are looking to replace our 50yr old heating boiler in a open vented system with a new 100kw boiler, or possibly 2 x50kw. The GB162 requires a sealed system, which would require a plate heat exchanger. It seems that the Evomax 2 can connect to an open vented system without a heat exchanger. Which one would you go for (assuming the Evomax was adequately protected with magnetic and non-magnetic filters)? The current system does not have any filters, but we woudl chemically flash it prior to the instalation.

Thanks

Pressurised boiler through plate heat exchanger.
Open vented system for existing system with filters on the inlet side of the return piping back to the heat exchanger.

You will never clean the amount of gunk out of the old system you need to to protect the new boilers.
- It's an open vented system 50 years old -

Your new investment wouldn't last a year or two if that (and numerous call outs) if it were directly connected to your old heating circuit (without plate separation) no matter what the claims.
