Before i get an engineer out. Is poor cleaning usually the cause of an oven which doesnt work. the gas hobs work fine, just not the oven or grill i think. i have told the tenant she needs to do a good clean first. Any where in particular ?

this may sound a daft question but is the oven gas? Grill gas? Or electric?

end of the day though it's unlikely that basic cleaning will fix the issue as usually spills block up burners and injectors and usually need stripping out to clean IMO :)

As Diamond says, a basic clean is unlikely to do the trick.
The oven will need some specialist attention.

Think you need to clean the oven B4 you call anyone out ! How old is cooker?

Clean it out as a matter of courtesy before you call a plumber. Nothing worse than working on a greasy cooker.

It can also be attractive!

To flies anyway  It is one of the most minging jobs a gas engineer has to tackle!

Good advice.
I'd up my price if it was minging with grease and muck no matter what was wrong with it. You'll know yourself if lack of cleaning might be a problem.
It could be a problem on an oven but grills usually can take a lot of neglect (only because the burner is above the muck level). You may struggle to find someone these days who actually knows how to fix one.

one of my favourite call outs is weve just moved in my husband connected the coooker but the oven doesnt work
walk in turn the clock back to manual collect money luvly jubbly
