I had a government scheme eco boiler fitted last year which went wrong this morning, had to pay £300 for an engineer to fix the problem who went on to tell me that the pipework hadn't been changed correctly to accommodate the new fully pumped system from the old gravity system and to complain to british gas. before I do i was wondering if anyone could give me more information on what should have actually have been done regarding the pipe work, as they did not touch any pipe work at all in the airing cupboard or loft. thankyou

Get the engineer you paid £300 to write a report out detailing what he thinks is wrong and why
Then ring BG and bang your head against the nearest wall
I've phoned british gas this morning who fobbed me off to the contracted installer who then fobbed me off back to british gas lol. I am now waiting for a call back from them

These tactics annoy me, they are commonly used by large companies and are deliberately designed to grind customers down to the point they give up in despair.

I suggest you respond by refusing to deal with anybody other than the company you paid for the installation. Deal only in writing (email or registered letter) and make it clear that they have one chance to fix the problem by a specific date (this has to be reasonable but for a company like BG say two weeks) or you will get it fixed by another company and will use the small claims court to recover your costs. Get a checklist from a consumer advice organisation (or your lawyer) of the specific steps you need to take and have a record of in order for your claim to succeed. Don't waste time with anything not on the checklist. Ignore the bogus 'one year limit', that's nonsense. If the installation wasn't done with reasonable skill you'll have up to seven years to file your claim.

In my experience, a lot of work done under the banner of 'government schemes' is often second-rate and invariably poor value for the customer in the long run.

I agree with chuck BG are the biggest rogues out there in my opion. , i have had to sort out more than one of their poor installs you have been treated very badly they have a duty to ensure their employees wether employed direct or subcontract carry out their installs to a high standard, this obviously has not been done you have every right to complain, i would make a appointment with citizens advice they will guide you as to which course of action to take dont give up persistent will is the way good luck regards kop post a picture of the install please
