AFAIK the boiler is set to fully pumped. (The switch inside is on fully pumped), however the pump is only running while the boiler burner is actually lit.
My understanding is that a fully pumped system should have the pump running for a while after the burner goes off to circulate the heated...
this may sound a basic question, but it is important. I have seen so many conflicting opinions, even from manufacturers. Some say, just use the biggest bore possible, others say use a small bore 8mm for a fully pumped system & a large bore 11mm for a gravity system. There must be a reason why...
One of our installers currently fitted a new heat only boiler to replace an old floor standing with gravity hot water. At the time he never fitted any valves or cylinder stat etc so I have been called back there to basically start again. Been there today to do it and found that he had the pump...
have an old system, large water tank and small f&e tank on loft, hot water cylinder on first floor, boilder on ground floor (Ideal Mexico Super C 125, vintage 1987, works well though had new stat put in recently). Would really like to just change HWC and leave everything else in place, though...
OK, time served aerospace engineer here.
Here's my query.
Mums house has a very old floor standing boiler - HW is gravity fed, CH is pumped. F/E is in the return pipe of the HW loop.
I live a long way away, so have to deal with it remotely, otherwise i'd be doing it myself.
Boiler has been...
Hi,
I'm having problems understanding the exact configuration of the CH/HW piping in my house.
In particular, I have to understand where and how to place piping for additional radiators at the upper floor.
My configuration is the classical one: loft cistern, indirect cylinder on the upper...
Dear all,
I have the following setup at my house for past 15 years.
1: Oil fired 35W Firebird boiler with flue in Garage ground floor
2: Convection based HW system with non-pressurized Cylinder which is fed by attic cold water storage tank . Only a Pleger Thermo mechanical valve with mercury...
Hi All. I hope you can help me.
We have a 1970's 2 story house with Oil fired heating. The boiler is a Worcester Danesmoor 15/20 DF. (Its the original boiler from 1976).
It is floor mounted in the kitchen in an alcove with the flu / chimney going directly up through the centre of the house...
I had a government scheme eco boiler fitted last year which went wrong this morning, had to pay ÂŁ300 for an engineer to fix the problem who went on to tell me that the pipework hadn't been changed correctly to accommodate the new fully pumped system from the old gravity system and to complain to...
I'll need to get a new boiler soon to replace my 20yr old 4 pipe boiler with separate gravity HW and pumped CH open vented system but I foresee a problem with the overflow and vent being on the end of the HW circuit. Boiler is in the garage and has 28mm pipes going up to the airing cupboard on...
hi guys im converting a gravity hot water with pumped heating to a fully pumped system. My question is im taking out old 28mm circs and replacing with 22mm what is the rule on the t on the shared return?
Hello,
I have a Thorn EMI boiler from the 80s and I was wondering if anyone could tell me if i have a gravity DHW and pumped CH, or fully pumped system? There is a valve on the system but i cant remember if its a 3 way or two way valve (i'm currently out of the country with work). Basically my...
Hi all. Usual thing, existing floor standing gas boiler is pumped for CH and running into a 28mm cylinder coil for DHW.
I am planning on capping off the CH flow and return at the boiler and converting the system into a y-plan fully pumped system.
Question for all. I realise the pipework is...
Hi everyone. First post so please go easy. I live in a 2 story 3 bed semi with ofch which consists of a grant boiler and riello burner in the garage. There are 3 pumps in the garage. One for downstairs heating, one for upstairs heating and one for the hot water cylinder that's in a cupboard in...
Hi,
I have the following in a gravity fed system:
Boiler: iCOS m3080
idealheating.com/downloads/manuals/155695.pdf
Location: Kitchen - ground floor
Timer: Siemens RWB9

hi
i've got a pumped central heating/gravity hot water system. if i was attempting to convert it to a fully pumped S plan system - as you can tell i'm a diyer - can i use the old 1 1/4" flow and 1" return of the gravity system for my pumped hot water or should i take this all out and...

Hi All , I'm a little.bit confused on how to convert a semi gravity heating system to fully pumped and what pipe work changes have to be done to make it safe ie vent pipe! I have been on a job where the primary flow to cylinder had a pump put on it and then a tee put on it with a motorised valve...
