Hi,
I'm new to the forum and I hope you can help.
As my landlord doesn't allow us to fit a dishwasher as usual, I was wandering if it was possible to connect it to the tap and how.
I'm interested in a full size dishwasher, not an over the counter one.

Many thanks in advance for your help.

Just get someone in to install a valve in the existing pipework.

When you leave just turn the valve off, disconnect your dishwasher and put a cap on the valve.

Your Landlord may think they have had a win they didn't have to pay for when you leave

Hi,
Thank you for your response, however we do have the valves the problem is that to reach them we would have to make a hole on the side of a cupboard :( and there is no way around. The landlord doesn't want to ruin the cupboard. We thought if possible to attach the dishwasher with long pipes directly to the tap and connect and disconnect as needed.

Would that be an option?
Many thanks.

And where do you plan on running the discharge?

In the sink. My mum used to have a washing machine that quirked like that when I was a child...

Thought you might say something like that, was just interested that`s all.

Simple solution - call the Landlord and ask him to recommend someone to install your dishwasher.
That way you will be not held responsible for any damage to the cupboard.
By the way - get an a quote and have the Landlord sign it off.

We have already spoken to the landlord.
He doesn't want us to modify the cupboard in any way so he will not reccomend us any plumber for that as we are not allowed.
To avoid any change in the cuboard or under the sink we need to find a solution.

My question is basically,

is it possible to connect a dishwasher to the actual tap to get the water in while the discharge would go in the sink?

Thank you

There are products designed to allow a dishwasher or washing machine to a kitchen tap. Here is one that is designed for a square tap https://www.amazon.co.uk/Plumb-Pak-Tap-Adaptor-Square-Taps/dp/B0035LDA9E but they come in different designs to fit different tap types. So if you can get something like that and find a way to keep the discharge pipe in the sink without flopping out then yes it will work fine.

It's not an ideal situation as others have said it should be properly plumbed in but seeing as you have no alternative then it would be acceptable.

Hi, that's brilliant then. Unfortunately weer haven't got any other option. Thank you for your help! !
