Hi people, I'm currently doing a level 1 plumbing course and I'm going to level 2 next year and level 3 after that, but i was wondering, because it is so hard to find anyone that will employ me for an apprenticeship, if there is any other way of becoming gas safe qualified, like I'm sure you can't be with just a level 3 full time course, right?

Sorry I don't know a lot about it but I'm here to learn with your help. :D

and people are talking to me about "attitude", if everyones gonna leave sarcastic reply's then I'm not exactly getting any advice whatsoever. I've already said i don't know much about the way this whole gas safe/apprenticeship thing works. so if anyones genuinely willing to help me, then please do so. :)

Not swearing, disguised, shortened or otherwise, would be a start. I've edited your post.
 
To cut it short, you need six months of hands on experience with someone in order to fulfil the requirements of the portfolio you need before starting your acs.
 
evidence of working with a gsr engineer on 20 different gas jobs when I was doing it croppie (3 years ago). but that was with me doing a 4 year apprenticeship
 
I think the definition of portfolio varies from establishment to establishment.

ok thanks for your help everyone, I'm gonna try to contact some more plumbers if I can and I'm going to try and get some more info from my college tomorrow. Thanks again.

Nothing sarcastic in my post, just my observation at your lack of people skills.

Long way to go before you start worrying about gas, a looooooong way.
 
Ok son, good luck and remember to wind your neck in and listen to what's being said to to you.

One thing you'll discover about this trade is we don't sugar coat what we say. We're very blunt.

Doesn't stop the advice you get from being valid though.
 
Get yourself out and about, it could take hundreds of contacts to find something. In the meantime get your head down and clash on, prospective employers will look at colleges to grab the good eggs. Make sure you are in that group.

bit like a trainee doctor then bud?lol

alls the same in principal, put peoples lives in your hands then you need a good grounding!
 
Get yourself down to all your local plumbers merchants, ask if you can leave a note on their wall. Offer to labour for free, to get the 'hands on' experience you need.
Don't whatever you do constantly try to undermine and disagree with whoever might give you the chance, eyes open, ears open gob closed. My last apprentice opened his once too often.
 
Move to Hampshire, once you've qualifiied in 2020, some companies are offering £550 a day now, for gas safe engineers.
 
Leave your name in public toilets down your way offering your services.
The plumbers who do weekly maintenance will take note and be in touch..
