thermostats
A thermostat is a regulating device component which senses the temperature of a physical system and performs actions so that the system's temperature is maintained near a desired setpoint.
Thermostats are used in any device or system that heats or cools to a setpoint temperature, examples include building heating, central heating, air conditioners, HVAC systems, water heaters, as well as kitchen equipment including ovens and refrigerators and medical and scientific incubators. In scientific literature, these devices are often broadly classified as thermostatically controlled loads (TCLs). Thermostatically controlled loads comprise roughly 50% of the overall electricity demand in the United States.A thermostat operates as a "closed loop" control device, as it seeks to reduce the error between the desired and measured temperatures. Sometimes a thermostat combines both the sensing and control action elements of a controlled system, such as in an automotive thermostat.
The word thermostat is derived from the Greek words θερμός thermos, "hot" and στατός statos, "standing, stationary".

Hello All.
I have an Ideal HE18 boiler with a Honeywell ST9400C controller and two Honeywell T6360B thermostats.
My understanding is that I can do a direct replacement of the ST9400C with the Hive Receiver and then disconnect the two stats BUT link out two wires to remove the open circuit so...
Hope you can help.
We have had a problem with our UFH which was ultimately traced to an electrical issue. We have had a new electrical control unit installed and all seemed okay (we had heat!) although we haven't been able to control the heat. The rooms that the pipes run through from the...

Hi,
I've got wet UF heating in part of my downstairs. It is split into 3 zones. The Heatmiser thermostats are wired to a Heatmiser wiring center. They are 3 wire stats - live, neutral and a volt free switched line. The boiler, pump and zone valves are managed from separate relays on the...

Well as is customary for wintertime, central heating issues are causing me grief.
Not my 50 year old boiler mind you, as long as I feed that gas and thermocouples it's more than happy.

I've turned my central heating system on this week, yes i know its too early in the year and man points must be deducted. All the rads work fine and all is quiet….for a while, then a knocking starts to come from one of the rads. It generally happens once i've used the hot taps in either the...
