lagging
Leading and lagging current are phenomena that occur as a result of alternating current. In a circuit with alternating current, the value of voltage and current vary sinusoidally. In this type of circuit, the terms lead, lag, and in phase are used to describe current with reference to voltage. Current is in phase with voltage when there is no phase shift between the sinusoids describing their time varying behavior. This generally occurs when the load drawing the current is resistive.
In electric power flow, it is important to know how much current is leading or lagging because it creates the reactive power in the system, as opposed to the active (real) power. It can also play an important role in the operation of three-phase electric power systems.

Hi, I'm looking for advice on the best form of insulation for the flow and return of my air source heat pump. It currently has armorflex, but there is copper showing at the back where the edges meet. The pipes are 35mm and it is fixed to the wall using brass stands.
hey does anyone no the best place to buy pipe lagging markers from. I need ones that say ground floor heating floor flow, 1st floor heating flow and so on. Any suggestions?
Take a close look at the photo, I had to do a double take. The customer couldn't understand why the pipe was constantly freezing up....... A real mystery !
Hi all
When laying out first fix pipes before the screed is laid how do you guys advise fixing the pipes ?
Ordinary pipe clips secured in concrete blocks between floor beams ? Or is there a recommended method ?
Thanks

Haven't bought any for ages cos I inherited a tonne of it. Went to get some today and my merchant was offering four thicknesses for 15mm. I said it was going under floorboards on ground floor and so he recommended 19mm. I think they were 9mm, 13mm, 19mm and 25mm. What circumstances are these...

Hi all
I have a (currently) un-lagged copper pipe running from my cold cistern in the loft to the pump in the airing cupboard. The problem is that conventional lagging is going to be fiddly, with the pipe passing very close to several joists and support beams.
Can I just cover it with loft...

Just had a pint with my mate, and he seems to think you no longer need to lag pipework 1m from the cylinder.
Does anyone know if that is true, or has he had to many strongbows?
hi all
just looked at a job where they want a new cold mains supply run outside and they want the sparky to fit trace heating to the mains supply as the old supply had burst (no lagging)
what im thinking of doing is running the new supply in 22 hep twin wall with lagging (19mm...
None of the pipework in my loft to/from my unvented cylinder has been lagged. I am looking to buy and fit the lagging myself. Some queries:
1. Most of the pipework is 22m (small section is 15mm). What wall thickness of pipe lagging do I need? 19mm, 25mm or more?
2. Is there any substantial...
Is it a good idea to lag the heating pipes going around the house?
Would it stop the heat dissipating into the voids where they are run ? I am certain it will do, but would it be worth doing ?
Has anyone done this before ? The reason i ask is i will be taking up a few first floors to do...
I have been asked to insulate some outside waste pipes as these have frozen up and the inside sinks/basins no longer drain away..... (They poured boiling water over pipes to defrost and all ok)....
Never insulated waste pipes before and was wondering if anyone could suggest the best sort of...
