Looking for advice in regards to a Vokera Linea Max combi which has recently developed a fault whereby the hot water intermittently isn't always very hot. Every now and again, a bath of water or shower runs lukewarm or when turning a hot water tap on, it takes longer than usual for hot water to...
Anyone come across the Geminox THI 10-50C?
Had one serviced by manufacturers this week, they say its got a partially blocked HE.
They've quoted £1556 plus VAT to change it.:dizzy2:
Looking to run my descaling unit on it before going down this route and would be grateful if anyone has any...
Hi there,
I recently (November 2012) had a service on my ferroli optima 901 due to problems of the DHW and CH not switching on (or switching on but shortly turning off).
The good news was that it got a clean bill of health with one (minor) exception.
I was told the likely cause of my...

I have a Victorian 2 bed house with 1 bathroom. Pulling out the old boiler and tanks and going get a combi installed. Now I want the system to also have a water softener in it, here lies the problem I believe. Worcester Bosch advise not to use water softeners on their boilers due to them having...

Hi
Need to replace an old 240k BTU boiler on an old house with old cast rads. Replacing with 2 new boilers and low loss header. It will be hard to get the old pipework and rads clean so I was thinking of using a plate heat exchanger to keep the old system water separate from the new boilers to...

when power flushing a heating system with a combi boiler, if you dont isolate the boiler are you risking damaging the diverter valve, plate heat exchanger etc
I've been doing powerflushes without isolating the boiler because i thought powerflushing the heat exchanger would be a good thing...
I have a customer with a combi (Grant - oil) and he complains of low HW temp. He has no softener etc (fool!). Ive measure the primaries on the heat exchanger at 68 degrees in and 60 out and the HW out is 26 degrees. Obviously I cry 'Scale' as usual.
This post is about me learning more about...

Hi all
went to a empty house the other day that is on the market, another plumber who is not gsr asked me to have a look at the glowworm back boiler unit 40 as it wouldn't light, no pilot so as I am checking it I take it apart and notice the heat exchanger is leaking very slightly right above...
I've just been to look at a profile 60. The boiler keeps cutting out on the high limit stat although it takes anything from 10 minutes to two hours to do it. The system has had chemical cleaner through it a few weeks ago (although not a powerflush) and the high limit stat has been replaced about...
Hi all, anyone recommend a place to start a search for a part for a very old boiler?
Before everyone tells me to replace the boiler, we are doing, but had planned to do so in about 3 months when we have planning permission to rebuild half our house.
The boiler is an Ideal Concord WRS...looks...

hi everyone
went to replace plate heat exchanger today but the screws would not budge, they are now slightly sheared any ideas or thoughts how to get them out ,much appreciated
I have a good set of brushes and cleaning tools for boiler heat exchangers but recently came across one where none was small enough to get into the space.
To the rescue, a 5mm cable tie. The serrations help to get deposit off the fins, and the plastic is too soft to damage anything.
Job done.
any ideas ???
a client had a firm do a power flush on system with a lot of rusty rads , boiler had been working poorly with rattling noises, now no rads will heat up, just a flow going through the coil, checked filter in it on drain off valve , a small bit of crud in it , before i get a heat...
Hi,
We have a wood burner that heats a thermal store, once this reaches 60c it pumps water through a heat exchanger that is connected to the main megaflow cylinder this should then heat the hot water until it reaches about 58c then a valve opens and the hot water coming from the heat exchanger...

I have a Vaillant Turbomax 828E which has developed a leak at the Main Heat Exchanger Tube connection point.
Question if anyone can help : Is it normally just the packing ring which has failed or could it be wear / corrosion in the Heat Exchanger Metal ?
Your help is much appreciated .

Hi all
I've got a Glowworm Spacesaver KFB that is weeping slightly from the right hand connection to the heat exchanger. I've nipped up the nut a little tighter (turning it through an angle of about 3 minutes on a clock face) but wasn't really sure I was doing the right thing, so didn't go any...
Evening all I mainly do installs do very little mantainence, woman rang me said she has hot water for 10 secs then goes cold so I'm presuming it's blocked exchanger is there a quick way of unblocking it or is it just easier to replace it? Thanks in advance
