Hey people just wondering if anyone could give me tips on generating work for a guy I work for.

I've just passed my level 2 and currently on my level 3, now I'm planning on either going for my OFTEC or my Gas Safe.

Recently we've hit a dry spell with plumbing work so I want to be able to pull in work. I know it's his responsibility to generate work as it's his name above the door but I'm hoping that further down the road that I could partner up with him and build on that.

So far I've made a list of every estate agent in the area and I'm going to start making a list of local builders to phone.

I've heard leaflets can be quite effective also so that is something me and my boss have discussed.

Thanks for reading.

Get qualified and find work for yourself.
A partnership almost always ends in tears.

You have made a good start with the builders, estate agents etc. How about looking into check-a-trade. Offer to help pay say 50% of the set up costs and then take 5% of the profit as well as your wages from the jobs it generates. Then you have made an investment and you might earn something back

That's hell of an idea, I'll bring it up with him tomorrow.

Are you pleased with it then IDCHAPPY? I just rang check a trade this week and they are coming out in a fortnight. I'm torn on it really, one part of me feels it's not really that credible but the other part of me thinks that if customers like it it may be worth doing. I guess I don't need too much more from it, but would like it to make its money back at least!

Also so re the original poster, last year we sponsored a local Rugby team (the minis) and although it cost £350 we got our company name on the shirts and this has generated quite a few customers as well as a lot of goodwill local for supporting the kids. Something I will definitely do again.

Thanks, Lee.

Checkatrade is great :)

I find a well sign written van and always say hello to the neighbours if you see them in their garden when out at the van
