Tiles on plasterboard

Hi guys I been asked to price a new bathroom for a customer, I'm new to the game and I been asked to strip the tiles from around the bath between taking the old bath out nd putting the new bath in. One wall is a solid wall and the other is plasterboard, would I be optimistic in thinking the plasterboard will be ok to be tiled back over or will it need to be replaced, I appreciate any help, thanks

Cement board is better (stronger) though I've tiled successfully from bath to ceiling on plasterboard

If your removing tiles from plasterboard in my experience you will need to replace the plasterboard, if your lucky you might get away without replacing it but I would add it into the price in IMHO

Stating the obvious, but don't do it the old way & nail the plasterboard on. Use plasterboard screws, unless you want to redecorate the other side of the stud wall for free.

There's no way tiles will come off PB without wrecking it, if they're stuck properly, so be prepared to re-board, and if it's a partially tiled stud wall, you'll have to fix to the nearest timber, which could lead to skimming.

I've got into the habit of cutting down the PB with my multi tool and taking the whole tiled area in one go rather than trying to get tiles off in that scenario.

PB is an excellent surface to tile to, but I tank out any wet areas. Better than backer board...... IMHO lol
