Reading the various posts it is apparent that leak sealer -
1. Works only if the hole is small enough
2. Tends to have a limited working life span

What is not clear is the affect it might have on boilers -
Being based in London with its hard water would it be right to assume that leak sealer might block up the heat exchanger on an older boiler?

Any advice would be welcome......

I believe leak-sealers aren't recommended on modern boilers by some manufacturers as they can block the small holes in the heat exchanger. Should be fine on older boilers but best to check with the manufacturer.

Are you certain the leak is in an inaccessible part of the pipework?

Waste of time IMHO. They clog everything up including trv's and AAV's
