ideal HE 35 boiler heating works no hot water

Hi
Mys sons house has Ideal HE 35 fitted from new 4 years old
heating works OK but no hot water

System pressure OK at just over 1 bar

tried a reset but makes no difference

When turning the hot tap on the boiler does not fire up
The display shows an odd symbol in green on the panel which looks like this __

all the time
It would appear that the boiler functions but is not being signaled to fire up when tap opened
What trippers the signal is there a flow valve on the hot water side

The boiler technically is still under the david wilson house guarantee but the previous owner a British Gas Engineer
serviced the boiler himself but did'nt fill the service sheet in so no void


Any suggestions

get a gas safe engineer in and get it serviced at the same time for piece of mind

And when you get the gsr engineer tell him its knackered and not that it just needs a service.

Nothing worse turning up for a service and finding out its goosed.

And make sure you tell him it's an ideal so that he can bring you some glossy vaillant brochures to browse through...
