Hi all, just getting to know the place. Can anyone advise me on how to measure the part on a radiator where the lock shield fits please (I think that's what it's called as its the opposite end to the thermostat)?

We've had some decorating done and afterwards noticed the old Crestalux cap was missing. We've searched high and low but its gone. We've contacted the decorator but he hasn't seen it either, so we need a replacement, but this is becoming increasingly hard to do as not sure how to measure the part where the cap will fit and Crestalux are so old now they're practically obsolete.
So can anyone help please? thanks

You can get generic L/S caps down at your local merchants, apart from that good luck if it's that old your chasing a dream I'm afraid.

Welcome to the forum.
It is as you say going to be very difficult to find & exact match, if you know any plumbers then it will be worth an ask as most of us keep a few odd ones for just such a case.

Otherwise take a photo & some measurements of the spindle head, most are either square or have a flattened end but there are lots of different sizes, pay a visit to your local plumbers merchants & see if they have something similar, as it is the lock shield it just has to sit there as a loose cover it doesn't have to be a perfect match.

Failing that, there was a company who specialised in caps for any sort of rad valve after a school child head butted an unprotected spindle in a sports hall. If they are still going it will be expensive.

Hi, Can anyone advise as to why the cold water to my bathroom keeps airlocking? This originally happened about 12 months ago and has happened 3-4 times since. It’s an upstairs bathroom, fed from a tank in the attic. The tank is about 8 Meters away and feeds a bath, sink and toilet. The tank...
