zones
A hardiness zone is a geographic area defined as having a certain range of annual minimum temperature, a factor relevant to the survival of many plants. In some systems other statistics are included in the calculations. The original and most widely used system, developed by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) as a rough guide for landscaping and gardening, defines 13 zones by long-term average annual extreme minimum temperatures. It has been adapted by and to other countries (such as Canada) in various forms.
Unless otherwise specified, in American contexts "hardiness zone" or simply "zone" usually refers to the USDA scale. For example, a plant may be described as "hardy to zone 10": this means that the plant can withstand a minimum temperature of 30 °F (−1.1 °C) to 40 °F (4.4 °C).
Other hardiness rating schemes have been developed as well, such as the UK Royal Horticultural Society and US Sunset Western Garden Book systems. A heat zone (see below) is instead defined by annual high temperatures; the American Horticultural Society (AHS) heat zones use the average number of days per year when the temperature exceeds 30 °C (86 °F).
Hey if putting inhibitor in an multi-zoned system ( S plan plus). With an underfloor heating zone, hot water zone and radiator zone. Is it just needed to add inhibitor to the system via a radiator.
Hi,
Im sure this question isn't a new one but im having to add another zone for an extension. There is currently 4 zones in total 1 for the cylinder and 3 for heating . My question is, is there a limit for the (electrical side) for how many zones you can have? as far as im aware there isnt but...

Hi - we have a pellet boiler that heats three zones. I want to be able to work out what percentage of the fuel and maintenance costs to allocate to the different zones - reasonably accurately. I looked at heat meters but saw that they were expensive. I then thought of monitoring the pumps - if I...
I posted a thread a couple of weeks ago but have not had things sorted yet.

Dear All,
We're doing a remodel of our mid terraced house. After much agonising to do with low water pressure and flow, we're getting a Sundial S plan plus system with a conventional boiler.
The plan is to have thermaskirt on the downstairs on one heating zone, the standard rads on first and...
Dear All,
Just when I thought I had cracked the wiring for a sundial S plan plus, I started looking at controls and the RF2 pack 5 seems to do all I need: separate DHW and 2 heating zones.
However, I think I'm being stupid here, but I don't understand how it's controlled.... I understand if...
Hi
Does anyone know what is the best way to zone a combination boiler? I have got to fit an outside oil combi boiler, but need to zone heating for upstairs and downstairs as well, to conform to new regs. I am guessing two two-port valves is the way to do it, unless you can tell me different, and...
Hey does anyone know were I could find some diagrams of a multi-zoned central heating system were the flow and returns go to kind of like a big manifold in say 2inch not far from the boiler. And the flow and returns from the zones come back to this.
I have a project coming up where I want to use 2 seperate ufh manifolds with the same boiler. The manifolds would have zone valves on them so would I need to put zone valves in the feeds to each manifold?
