s plan
The S-Plan or Sabotage Campaign or England Campaign was a campaign of bombing and sabotage against the civil, economic and military infrastructure of the United Kingdom from 1939 to 1940, conducted by members of the Irish Republican Army (IRA). It was conceived by Seamus O'Donovan in 1938 at the request of then IRA Chief of Staff Seán Russell. Russell and Joseph McGarrity are thought to have formulated the strategy in 1936.

I have a customer with an open vent s-plan system. One of the 2 port valves is on the flow and the other on the return!!! whats that about? Never seen this before, both Heating & HW seem to be working. The boiler needs replacing & I really want to understand how the system works before doing any...
Hello All,
I recently brought a house that unfortunately turns out was a bit of a plumbing mess, The three port valve has failed and the heating did not work in part of the house. I am in the process of tidying up the plumbing in the airing cupboard and changing from a three port valve system...
Hi,
looking at which recommended controls to use Ie programmer plus 2 wireless programable room stats for each heating zone, I normally use Honeywell but pondering over a couple.
Thanks
Rob.
Can someone explain how an s plan heating system work from the sequences through the eletrics. So if I call for heating from the programmer it will send a signal to the room stat and so on and so forth...
Hi all,
New here to the forum.
Got a slight problem with my UFH. Have 3 valves, DHW, Rads and UFH.
Rads and DHW work fine using the programmers, switch on and off and heat up no problem.
However whenever the UFH is calling for heat, the flow pipe at the manifold barely gets warm. Its a 4...
Whats the going rate for a total re-wire of an S-plan with an unvented cylinder labour wise?
Good lord no.. I'am not getting some arsehole spark to do it.
I have now registered on the site as my original post as a guest(see below) was closed and I had a message suggested I register in order to get more answer (thanks again to those who already answered)

I have a standard vented S plan system and I'm about to increase the sixe of a couple of radiators. I'll also take the opportunity to refill with new inhibitor.
My question is whether I need to manually open both S plan valves when I drain the system. I see no reference to this in any guides...

Zoning a property into upstairs and downstairs. Would you guys use a 3 channel programmer and normal wired stat or keep the 2 channel one and fit a programmable stat?
I Had a query from a customer recently who said the water was too hot coming from the taps.
The cylinder stat was set at 40.
previously they were having an issue with no HW
They said they recently had the PCB changed (incorrectly diagnosed by the previous engineer as admitted)

I'm revising a system for a customer, it's a large property that really does need zoning but he is not keen on the idea of having all the floors up. In short, I'm going to remove an old heat only boiler and standard S Plan and have a system boiler run a primary circuit and install a low Loss...

i have got to change over a w plan system. If it was just changing to a Y plan, is it just a case of ptting in the new mid position valve and running a hot water off? Or, would you recommend changing it to an S plan?
Just in the middle of replacing some rads (thanks to all on here for the advice re. concrete floors). Whilst my friend was helping drain down, he noticed that my s plan has no bypass, whilst his does.
It's a standard vented system, and boiler is an old, but reliable Ideal Concord WRS.
