oil tank
An oil terminal (also called a tank farm, tankfarm, oil installation or oil depot) is an industrial facility for the storage of oil, petroleum and petrochemical products, and from which these products are transported to end users or other storage facilities. An oil terminal typically has a variety of above or below ground tankage; facilities for inter-tank transfer; pumping facilities; loading gantries for filling road tankers or barges; ship loading/unloading equipment at marine terminals; and pipeline connections.
Has anyone ever used their wet/dry vac to hoover up the dregs in an oil tank? Had a contaminated oil tank and pumped out most of the oil using a hand pump. Would like to get the last bits out which always contain the most crap and was wondering if the oil would kill my wet/dry vac. Anyone done this?
I don't do a lot of oil now, so I'm a bit outdated with the regs: can someone please confirm if a 1200Ltr kero tank needs to be bunded for an installation in Scotland?
Thanks guys.
I'm currently building a new house and have bought an underground storage tank. The tank is 50m from the boiler room where I will have 2 boilers ( 1 for UFH/HW and 1 for the swimming pool). What I need to know if what size pipe do I need to run from the tank to the boiler room to make sure...

Hi all, i have recently ran out of oil to the extent that the boiler stopped working and the 'lockout' light was on. I have had a delivery of oil this afternoon and want to know if there is anything i need to do to prevent anything going wrong rather than just turning the heating on? Any advice...
I need to fit a oil tank 6 meters above the boiler and the manufacturer states if its over 5 meters then a head breaking device needs to be installed yet ive never heard of this. Anybody know what this is?
Where do you get yours from? I heard someone got it for about 41p / metre from somewhere but Central Tanks are £32 +VAt for 30metres which isnt tooo bad.
Just looked at a oil boiler replacement/system upgrade and noticed the existing oil tank is not to new regs (to close to boundary and dwelling). am i right in saying its ok to connect the new boiler to this or should i advise replacement?

Hi. Advice needed
I have to change/clean the filter coming from my oil tank. It does not have a shut off arm but has a round knob at the end. I'm assuming I would have to trun this to cut off the oil before releasing the bowl below. Anybody know which way? photo below
Hi,
Recently on the advice of a plumber we moved our oil tank level from above the level of the tank, to further down our garden. We were told that it would be fine as he would use a tiger loop which would draw the oil up to the boiler no problem.
The bottom of the oil tank is around 2.5/3...

You know the tube that goes up the front of an oil tank so you can see how much oil is left?
That's the one!
Presumably to change it to a new one you just pull the old one out (trying to catch the oil in the tube) then push a new one in?
There is a nut at the bottom but I'm assuming I...

Hi All
I have an oil fired heating system which has been a constant problem for the last 2 years. Basically the problem has been muck and water getting into the bunded tank somehow. This has resulted in us having to change the oil pump in the boiler about 5 times to date.
We now have a...
