Hello.
I've just replaced our old Potterton EP2 CH controller with a Drayton Wiser HubR (& peripherals). The old backing plate wasn't compatible with the new universal one, but the wiring was pretty close AFAICT (N, L, 1, 3 & 4 connected) .When I first powered it up but didn't have any TRVs or the room stat connected, the HW at least, ran for a good while & got the water nice & hot. I then had a fair amount of faffing around bleeding the rads and trying to get the peripherals connected and I think it's now operational - it calls for heat, but nothing's happening - the motorised valve doesn't activate, pump not running & no boiler trying to fire. The motorised valve case is pretty hot, but IIRC they do get hot? (I replaced that 3-5 years ago, 8 max although at the time I read that they don't last long - Danfoss HSA3). The pump is a Wilo Yonos the I put in about 2 years ago and the boiler is an ancient Potterton Promax which obviously has to die at some point, but it was all working earlier... I'd naturally assume I'd cocked up, but it was at least partially working after I'd replaced the controller. I'd be grateful for any pointers/techniques for troubleshooting: I was planning to disconnect and test in turn the motorised valve & pump - I have a mains quick test block but if there are any non-invasive tests, I'd prefer to do them.
Many thanks.

So, after a day's detective work mapping the wiring, I realised that the call from the Wiser Hub was going nowhere (out to a disconnected room stat) - see left of screengrab. I removed the now redundant room stat wires and re-routed the Hub terminal 4 (CH on) to the CH on wire of the valve (right). We now have hot water AND heat. :) I think the boiler may have locked out at some point as well, which muddied the waters, but whilst everything was turned off while I was investigating, perhaps it had chance to reset? Anyway, I've posted this in case it helps anyone else.

Ideal Logic 24, Previous problem was that the hot water was only cold or barely warm if the heating was in use. If heating was off and boiler cold then would get hot water most of the time. Changing the flow cartridge about 2 years ago (when I moved in) solved this problem enough to suffer it as...

Hello, I am seeking some advice, I have a POTTERTON PROMAX 28 COMBI Boiler and I noticed yesterday that the water around the house is no longer warming up. The heat exchanger has been changed 6 months ago, so I do not believe it is that. Does anyone have any ideas on what it could be? Thanks
