Need advice please. My oil fired central heating is giving off oil fumes. They smell like strong paint fumes. This is only happening when the boiler is firing, say to heat water (now) and for heating in the winter. When the boiler is switched off there is no smell. Have had the flue replaced because we were experiencing exhaust fumes as well! We are having to heat water via the immersion heater on the boiler. But every time we use the combi system on the boiler it gives of these oil fumes. We are unable to use he boiler. Have had a plumber to check it but he says he can't find a leak inside the boiler. Any advice please? We need to get this sorted before it starts to get cold!

Turn it off immediately, It is dangerous and it could kill you and your family with carbon monoxide poisoning. Do not turn it back on until you have got an OFTEC engineer in to check it out.

Decent engineer will find it, might be the shaft seals on the oil pump.

That's great. Thank you. I'll tell my engineer. Want to find a solution cos the boiler itself works fine. It's so annoying!!!!!

if this is the same engineer that hasnt found the fault already, surely its time to try another!!! use an oftec one as well
