I recently installed a C&L Bilbrough tap from B&Q in a new kitchen. Its the one with a a spout with a switch on it as well as a spray head with switch in additon to the hot/cold mixer/volume control. I have found that if both the spout and spray head are closed off and the mixer valve open, you can clearly hear water flowing inside the tap, presumably from the higher pressure cold supply into the gravity fed hot water supply. It should be easy enough to add a check valve in the hot water feed to prevent the cross flow but is this supposed to happen or is it a design fault?
I have contacted B&Q but their response is to take it back to the store for a replacement which won’t actually solve the problem if its a design fault.
Also does anyone know of a check valve that is 1/2” BSP female to male as most of the pipework is behind the kitchen units and difficult to access. Would be easier to insert something between the tap tail and the tap connector at the back of the cabinet.
