Hi guys just a query concerning my Icos M3080, it's coming up 13 years old now and yes I know I'm on borrowed time and indeed the flame code comes up occasionally but a touch of the reset sorts it, it purrs away and heats the home very well, my question is recently I had a heating installer in on an unrelated job and asked him for advice on the boiler, he told me it was now out off date and parts were hard to come by and thought I should be getting a new one, if this is the case then fair enough it's only cost me a new fan and igniter over the years but it's like parting with an old friend is it obsolete or is it worth fixing up any advice gratefully accepted

parts cost more as supplies dwindle, but a new boiler will be cheaper to run, but wont last as long.

Up to press I have never had any trouble getting anything for an icos , but TBH theres loads around here

Start saving up. Run the icos as long as you can but accept the fact that the next time it breaks down could be it.

Also be prepared that some pipework alterations to bring you in line with the regs could be necessary.

Most parts are still available for them, but getting pricey. The PCB is over £250 last time I looked and they seam to eat through them every few years in general as well as umpteen other parts.
If thats all the trouble you have had upto now then you have one of the better ones.
I would start putting few quid away as the heat engines tend to give up eventually and at 600 odd quid plus half day fitting its really new boiler time.

Good advice cheers, is there a particular boiler/manufacturer you would recommend as a reliable replacement I'm running 13 rads at the moment if that helps
