Hey guys in the know. I have paid for a heating and plumbing contract and had to pay my excess 3 times for the same thing still not fixed.

The issue is quite simple to repair not sure why any one of the 2 plumbers could not fix it. Why am I paying for cover.

The auto air vents in part of the system that was added by the contractors when the conservatory was added and required a radiator to heat it in the colder weather. Anyhow the auto air vent has been leaking water and running down the side of one of the devices so the plumbers decided it was the gate valves that was leaking which was fitted at the same time the conservatory work was done to isolate that single feeds to the additional conservatory Radiator. Anyhow the heating guy that came the last time same guy who tightened the gate valve said my boiler Worcester bosh needed a new heat exchanger and wrote off the boiler as BER but I got Worcester Bosch to replace the heat exchanger pressure vessel and PRV practically a new boiler and guess what still losing pressure.
I have decided to cancel my heating cover and fix it myself.
1. Turned off the gate valves and isolated the auto airer and will check the gate valves flow and return for wet and then drain down the radiator in the conservatory enough to cut off the auto airers x 2 and replace with manual type. I live in a bungalow so all feeds come from above.
I don’t want to have to do this but after numerous attempts by professionals I need to get this fixed myself. Comments welcome. Sorry for the long post.

I fit an isolator valve below that type of AAV so that they can be left open for the relatively short time that they are needed, e.g. after the system has been refilled, and closed for the rest of the time.

I'm not a fan of gate valves either. Is there some reason lever operated ball valves weren't used?

I also use Prestex valves rather than the cheaper unbranded ones you'll find on eBay.

Not sure why full bore ball valves were not used but if the gate valves are leaking I have isolated using the gate valves I will replace with ball valves like these in the picture and isolate manual airer with bal-o-fix and will fill the system and air it then close off. Great advice thanks for the reply Chuck.
