I am installing vertical column rads and want to use chrome plated pipes to the rad outlets through the floor, transitioning to pex in the basement. But so far I have had no luck finding anything suitable whatsoever. I know chrome plated pipe for plumbing applications exists because I have seen vids about how to scrape chrome plating off pipes so they can be sweat fitted or have a compression fittings installed. Is there perhaps a less obvious industry name or description generally used for such pipes other than chrome plated pipes?

Best bet in my opinion would be to use copper and use chrome pipe covers.
Non chromed copper will be easier to seal into the compression fitting of the rad valve and will also allow the transition to pex by just using a pushfit coupling.

in regards to pushfit , I use the tectite pushfit system, normally off of there MLCP pipe , they have scribe tools which allows you to score a ring into the chrome/copper for the grab ring to bite, very good metal bodied fittings..

And fittings are available in chrome. I use sprint fittings as well never had any problems with it, Downside , cost of fittings.

Copper pipes, I think its fair to say, is not what it used to be, the copper is getting thin while the cost is going up. Meanwhile, plastic Pushfit seems to be getting better and better, cost and convenience was always better, but now the quality is to, have we reached a stage where plastic will...
