Hi guys just been to see a job customer is complaining about two rads making banging noise after the heating has been on for about two hrs, could this be the trv's they are twenty years old

Did you try removing the heads from the trvs to see if noise stopped?
 
Didn't do that but as usual no noise happened when I was there but I was told if she turned the valves the noise stopped
 
could it be the radiator itself? expanding in the brackets, do the brackes have the plastic inserts on? seen a lot of problems down the line without these inserts

Hi guys just giving an update of the banging rads. Went to the job on sat and spoke to the lady's husband who informed me that when the rads where banging the lower half of the rads were cold while the top half were scalding hot. I suggested they had the system flushed but they don't want to spend that sort of money do the saga goes on
