Hi Guys
Bit new to all this but was hoping for a bit of help/advice please?
Whats the best procedure for changing TRVs like drain down, time & cost and do you use aids, like freezer packs or 'Aquavac' or similar?
Any help would be great :)
Hi,
I have got 14 radiators in total and three of them have got TRVs installed on the return side.
2 of them are downstairs which are not heating up too much as compared to all other radiators.
I went through balancing myself (have to do it again little better this time).
Could anyone...
Evening guys...and gals.
Been asked for some advice by the mother-in-law and she has confused me. Apologies if this is a simple question but I'm still very much learning!!!
She has just moved into her new home, probably 30yrs old. She has her system boiler in the loft with cold water cistern...
Hello all
I have a bypass in my house which feeds two bathrooms, I've lived here 10 years and only recently realised these were on the bypass. I've always turned them off in the summer using the isolating valve fitted (not trv) as it would get too hot in the bathrooms. I'd like to fit TRV's...
Hi
I have had a new system put in and I am finding that the only way to keep the rads on (to even warm the room) is keep them all on at 5.
They are Bulldog TRVs. if i set them to 4 (range 23-25C), they all seem to go off far too early.. two upstairs still go off when they are set to 5 (range...

Hi all -
Quick question - a lot of the TRV's on our radiators were broken when we moved in. I want to replace them, but I've noticed that they are mounted on the TOP of the radiator, not the bottom - the other pipe is connected to the bottom at the other end of the radiator. Due to space...
Hi Guys: Recently had a new heating system installed in my house. All rads have trv's, thermostat in dining room & an Ideal Logic Combined30 boiler. Supposed to be very efficient & cost effective to run.Doesn't seem to be that cost effective at the moment, we're going throughabout £49.00 a week...
Hi there,
Well, just as the title says. I have to re-hang some rads that have been taken off the wall by someone else. That person did not mark which pipes were flow or return and its impossible to trace because the pipes (Plastic, 10mm micro) disappear into the ceiling, I presume to some form...
I have got a heating system to fit in the bar of a sports club, basically one big room. There is going to be 5 rads. I know normally you don't fit a TRV on the rad in the same room as the stat but with a large open plan area what are the regs?
Hi guys I have a combi swap to do at the weekend (for my landlord). He wants the cheapest of everything, what are the cheapest cleaning chemicals and inhibitor available and also will be using cheapest TRV's I can get. Any recommendations?
Thanks
Hi
I've got a job where I need to change 29 TRV's in a doctors surgery - I've allowed about a tenner per valve give or take but was wondering if there are any makes you recommend/avoid. I normally go for merchants own type and normally don't have problems
Cheers
Any1 got a link to information regarding wether or not you have to fit trv's onto an existing system when changing a boiler? I always fit them anyway but someone was saying that you cant make a customer bring everything upto part L ie trv's room stats cylinder lagging etc etc
Hi
Can anyone tell me what sort of pressure an expansion vessel normally runs at, on a normal GCH system, when it is heating
I've just put an 18 litre expansion vessel as a temporary replacement for a first floor open header tank, to see what happens if the system is run at pressure. I've...

Hi - I have what was originally a 20 year old GCH system to be upgraded
We have put a new Greenstar 24Ri boiler in and are going to add an expansion vessel to get HW up to new rads on the 2nd floor
Do i have to change the old TRV's on the existing rads as a matter of course, or is it worth...
Hello I am getting a new boiler put into my property. currently the rads do not have thermostatic valves. I take it is good practice to have these installed. Is it an issue on older rads? They all seem fine. Also what is a good quality valve in terms of design and function. I remember having a...

An on going argument beetween my self and other employees if you fit a room thermostat you should take off or change the TRV in the same room as thermostat if it has one other wise the rad will get to temperature but not the room stat. ( Confused my self writing this) i beleive in replacing trv...
I have recently fitted a new system boiler on a single pipe system. I fitted a MagnaClean twin tech and left the X800 cleaner in the system while i was on holiday for 2 weeks. System has now been drained down and i have fitted TRV's on radiators. Yes I know they dont really work well on this...
