running
Running is a method of terrestrial locomotion allowing humans and other animals to move rapidly on foot. Running is a type of gait characterized by an aerial phase in which all feet are above the ground (though there are exceptions). This is in contrast to walking, where one foot is always in contact with the ground, the legs are kept mostly straight and the center of gravity vaults over the stance leg or legs in an inverted pendulum fashion. A feature of a running body from the viewpoint of spring-mass mechanics is that changes in kinetic and potential energy within a stride occur simultaneously, with energy storage accomplished by springy tendons and passive muscle elasticity. The term running can refer to any of a variety of speeds ranging from jogging to sprinting.
Running in humans is associated with improved health and life expectancy. It is assumed that the ancestors of humankind developed the ability to run for long distances about 2.6 million years ago, probably in order to hunt animals. Competitive running grew out of religious festivals in various areas. Records of competitive racing date back to the Tailteann Games in Ireland between 632 BCE and 1171 BCE, while the first recorded Olympic Games took place in 776 BCE. Running has been described as the world's most accessible sport.
I’ve got this pipe outside which water is constantly coming out of the bottom as you can see. I’ve tried turning the blue fitting but it doesn’t stop it at all. I’ve got no idea why the PRV is there or what it’s for, can I just take it off & replace with a new one & turn it off on that?

Hi everyone
Some very helpful people on this forum (hi John.g) sorted me out with some issues with a faulty installation of a Grundfos UPS3 back in Oct/Nov 2021.

For months we have been switching heat and/or water...
I have a 23 year old Megaflo heating and hot water system powered by the original Thermecon oil boiler. One of the most common kinds of faults I get with this system is the continually running circulating pump.
The upstairs and downstairs CH are separate circuits each with their own Danfoss...
Got a streak of ice on the brickwork outside underneath the upstairs toilet cisterns overflow outlet which I only noticed as it's sub zero. Seems to be thicker everyday due to outlet pipe being snapped to the level of the brick. Checked the cistern and it seems to fill up and stop at a suitable...
I have a strange fault with a Vaillant EcoTec combi-boiler.
It's 100% reliable whenever the heating is called for, ie. by the room-stats.
It's also 100% reliable when hot water is called for, ie. hot tap or shower, as long as the heating isn't running at the time. But if the heating is already...
Evening, just had new boiler and Ch pump. 24hrs later noticed pump was constantly pumping despite schedule being off. Only way to stop it was to turn boiler off, opened airing cupboard to notice slight wet patch from a leaking valve near pump. Fitter sent someone out who drained system and...

Hi, I've had an on going issue for over a year now and can't seem to get an answer. Hopefully can get some more information from the forum.
If I use the cold or hot water taps in my kitchen or bathroom, 10, 20, maybe 30 mins later it sounds as if the pipes have water running through them, as if...
We have a 20 year old Potterton Suprima 100L system boiler. It’s running 24/7 and only way we can turn off CH is at boiler mains! Engineer replaced PCB and believes it will be the frost stat kicking in but it just doesn’t seem right (this hasnt happened before). As I say, even in milder temps...
Hi boiler has been making a noise continuously for 24h as if running but no pressure or heating. Could this be because of a frozen condensation pipe? We can't check it die to location. Should we leave boiler on? Worried about energy costs as you can imagine. We had barely put heating on
Hi all,
My boiler is a Worcester 28i Junior and the fan switches itself on for no reason.
The timer will be off and the hating may have been off for several hours but it does this intermittently throughout the day and night. We have noticed that our electricity bills are higher than normal and...

Hi hoping someone can help with this as its beginning to drive me nuts. Boiler generally well serviced and working fine, no problems with DHW. Central heating recently began to occasionally fire up as normal and run until it reached temperature set by flow control thermostat at which point...
I have an open vented central heating system with a hot water tank. Both heating and hot water circuits have a motorised valve controlled by a timer. The timer for the central heating is always in the “on” position and is governed by a room thermostat. The boiler is a Vaillant Ecotec Plus 428...
