anybody know of a radiator spanner, that had 2 joints in it, similar to the idea of a tap spanner, but had a tapered Allen key one end

If not can you over tighten the union and use that to remove it?
 
no nothing like that, basically all it was was a piece of say 7 inch x 20mm round steel tube, and in one end you had a tapered allen key . that wound flop over 180 degree like the head of a tap spanner, you had something similar the other end, but cant remember what , I was an apprentice when last seen it.
 
It's the end from a rothenberger ratchet spanner.

I've got one and although it's a bit pricey it does make life a lot easier.

Mines a today's tools one just a cheapy one my rothy rusted up its just as good though.

I think I know the one you mean has a black plastic grab type key at one end can't remember where I've seen it possibly in Williams attached to a yellow piece card if I see it I'll make a note of it
