Help please can anyone tell me how to remove this older model Francis Pegler shower backplate, there are no signs of a grub screw
or a socket headed screw. It cant be rotated either because of the border tiles. Thanks

There is just a little if I try to turn it. But as you can see the border tiles stop it turning any further.

I tried pulling off again with no luck it locates in a rubber seal it could just be mastic. However could you take a look at this Francis Pegler potential replacement. Note the two bags containing what looks like extra long Allen keys I can’t think why you would need two and what they would be for can you? I wondered if they were a locking device for the back plate. Regards Terry

Look all around for a grub screw, if there isn’t one - the plate will just pull off.
The central ring over the valve can get tight, especially with some limescale.

However it is quite likely someone has stuck it on with silicone. Get a thin blade (eg 12” fine hacksaw) and ease it all around under the edge of the plate- it will come off.

Thanks Ben-gee there does not appear to be any locking screws. The edge of the plate sits in a rubber or neoprene surround which on one side a section has dislodged and slipped behind the plate possibly due to the mixing valve not being exactly 9Oo to the tiles. I’m beginning to suspect the centre is siliconed to the valve as you suggest although it does rotate slightly.
