After drain, must add inhibitor?

Yes, worrying too much. Yes oxygenated water is bad for mild steel, hence why we add inhibitor, but a few months I wouldn’t think would have caused severe damaged. Find out whether it’s been treated, inhibitor added, or look for a sticker on the boiler.

No it’s not too late to add inhibitor (if needed), but will need if if none added and it’s all fresh tap water.

It's just because I was told that once you drained your system without adding inhibitor, it will cause damage in a few weeks time which made me worried...

Sorry not clear you mentioned: "look for a sticker on the boiler." and "it’s all fresh tap water" what you mean?

If the water added to the system was just from your mains supply, then it’ll need inhibitor, but if inhibitor was added initially, there may be a sticker on the boiler to state this.

There's no sticker on the boiler, so no inhibitor added initially which is what I thought as well as the installer never mentioned this to me.

They may have changed the name but yes sounds about right. Currently I'm abroad and may not be fully up to date on developments.

For whatever names, the gas engineer did not give these kinds of certificate....
How can I do?

Should I just add the inhibitor now? Is it late now after October drain?

You are worrying too much. Some advocate no inhibitor, many don’t have it for similar reasons to yours. If you are concerned, drain and refill with a dose of inhibitor.

I get it that there are alternatives to the conventional inhibitor approach, but how common are they in the UK?
