Hi forum,
We have a >10 year old 2 Bar Aqualisa Type 1 pump for the shower.
Recently it started acting up...
Sometimes the cold would completely stop but the hot would keep flowing (almost scalded myself in the shower), when this happens the pump makes an intermittent stop/start revving sound.

I thought this may have been an airlock in the cold, so I did the usual trick of forcing hot back up the cold pipe.
This usually fixes it until the next time, but it keeps happening every few days.

Is this a sign that the pump is failing?

When I do the air-lock fix it runs fine for a few more days, no funny sounds from the pump and both hot and cold have good pressure.

There have not been any changes made to the house plumbing.

Thanks

PS,
There doesn't seem to be any air lock flanges on the pump inlets, nor any 1/4 turn screw-type cut off valves next to the flexi pipes.
Should I consider fitting some anti-airlock device to the pump inlets?

Also:
I can only find one red cut off valve on the cold feed which comes direct from the attic tank.
The hot feed doesn't have any cut off tap, it simply comes from the top of the immersion tank.
The immersion tank inlet has a cut off valve, and a drain fitting.

If I were to change the pump, I guess I need to turn off the immersion inlet then drain the immersion to remove hot from the pump ???

Hi, Can anyone advise as to why the cold water to my bathroom keeps airlocking? This originally happened about 12 months ago and has happened 3-4 times since. It’s an upstairs bathroom, fed from a tank in the attic. The tank is about 8 Meters away and feeds a bath, sink and toilet. The tank...

Hi, basic question, any insight much appreciated. Looking to have an outdoor tap in my front porch fed from 15mm pex coming up from suspended floor. Pic 1 is inside porch, pex temporarily clipped to give an idea of pipe placement (ignore shoddy blockwork of booted cowboy builder!), Pic 2 is...
