hi
iv just had a new thermostat fitted and it acts in a completely different way to my old ne so just wondered if this sounds right?
my old wireless stat was a British gas WG1 wireless(?) which I'm led to believes re-badged Drayton(?)
It did what you would expect from a stat, set to 20, drops below, comes on, gets to 20 switches off...

my new one is a Honeywell wireless sat...b it seems to keep coming on before it drops blow 20 degrees, usually only staying o for 1 minute... I et the idea of 'keeping the house warm' rather than letting it drop, but does this do the boiler any good??
1 minute seem very short and only keeps the rads lukewarm...but you do notice it In the house with the constant temp.
works normally the rest f the time, its jut once it is up to temp

cheers,Dean

Hi Dean, the new stat may have a load compensator built in which means it will cut out before reaching set temp as it anticipates through use and software. If the house is warm and the stat temp has been met then there is no need for radiators that are hot.

Or the 1 minute firing up of the boiler is just the HW preheat. Unless in eco mode a combi will routinely fire up every so often to keep the hex hot enough to provide hot tap water if you were to open a hot tap.

ok cheers guys, so this probably isn't doing the boiler any harm?
its definitely the rads that are coming on as you feel them heat up, but it goes off again before they get hot, it have timed it and it is exactly 1 minute. it just seemed strange as the old one never used to do it...
as I said above, you do notice it in the room temp as it stays far more constant, almost like it anticipates it will get colder, and turns on before it does get cold (similar to which was mentioned above)
cheers for your help guys
