Hello,

I am fitting new taps and a shower mixer in my en-suite and was looking to isolate the hot water pipes. I have an unvented indirect heating system (have attached some photos).

I was wondering if the isolation valve that would shut off the water to the hot water taps is as circled in the photo at the top of the cylinder? (See photo)

If it is, is it as simple as putting on a hot water tap and shutting off this valve?

For cold water I was just going to shut off the cold water main below the sink.

Thanks for any help in advance,

Paul

Yes you’ve got it. Shut off the two valves you suggest and then open the taps that you wish to exchange. If a little water comes out and then all flow stops you are good to go, if it continues to flow at full blast - you need to look for other valves before you proceed.
But what you suggest should work.

Really appreciate the quick reply.

Our kitchen mixer tap has started dripping. Like so much of the plumbing in our almost new build bungalow, it is lacking! The plumber didn't install any isolating cocks in the H&C feed to the tap so how can I identify which of the valves is passing? Shut the whole H&C water system down?

Hi, Can anyone advise as to why the cold water to my bathroom keeps airlocking? This originally happened about 12 months ago and has happened 3-4 times since. It’s an upstairs bathroom, fed from a tank in the attic. The tank is about 8 Meters away and feeds a bath, sink and toilet. The tank...
