Hi all,

Went to look at a job this evening - change the 2 immersions on a fortic cylinder. I want to pick them up before i go do it but haven't got a clue what size i need.

I was tired and the place smelt funny and i just wanted to get out of there so I never even measured the cylinder but it was about 1400mm high and 500-600mm diameter - sorry I know this is really vague!

I've never even done one of these before is it likely to be a nightmare? What would you estimate time-wise to do a job like this? Anything I need to know or any tips?

Many thanks,

Nat

nat were the immersions straight into the side of the tank? and not slanted like on a normal cylinder? if so you will need short ones 11".

Thanks Steve.

Straight into the front so horizontal. Will 11 inches be what I need?

Is it likely to be straightforward? I guess you can never tell...

Is it a good idea to loosen them when the cylinder is full as it's already been drained down.

yes 11", yes straight forward, yes good idea to loosen when still full of water as cylinder is still supported, should be less than two hours really just be careful when undoing them.

Couple of hours? Less?

Half a day, no isolator or doesn't work, stopcock in house not working, drain cock on cylinder useless, air lock when turning it all back on...........

Struggling to get immersions out even with heat and a 15lb sledge hammer

OR

maybe I'm too pesimistic,
