Hi

I am planning a new kitchen extension and ideally would like to move my gas meter from an internal wall to an external wall but in sounds like (from the service provider) that this will require a new service to the property, so - the question.

If I leave the meter where it is on a single brick wall, then to meet building regs I need to increase the the thermal efficiency of the wall. Is it within gas regulations to enclose the meter and vertical service pipe within an insulated cupboard, with a hinged door to provide access to read the meter etc.?

do not see the problem with that so long as it can be accessed for service/repair readings etc
