pressure
Pressure (symbol: p or P) is the force applied perpendicular to the surface of an object per unit area over which that force is distributed.: 445 Gauge pressure (also spelled gage pressure) is the pressure relative to the ambient pressure.
Various units are used to express pressure. Some of these derive from a unit of force divided by a unit of area; the SI unit of pressure, the pascal (Pa), for example, is one newton per square metre (N/m2); similarly, the pound-force per square inch (psi) is the traditional unit of pressure in the imperial and U.S. customary systems. Pressure may also be expressed in terms of standard atmospheric pressure; the atmosphere (atm) is equal to this pressure, and the torr is defined as 1⁄760 of this. Manometric units such as the centimetre of water, millimetre of mercury, and inch of mercury are used to express pressures in terms of the height of column of a particular fluid in a manometer.
My Worcester boiler is losing pressure. It only happens after the boiler has been on and it loses approx 0.5 bar each time. The expansion vessel was replaced last year and no improvement, I have checked the rads, no issues, also no obvious water patches on walls ceilings etc. I have also used...

We currently have an electric shower fed with mains cold this mains cold is really bad pressure coming into the shower resulting in really poor pressure from electric shower. We have a gravity fed system what's the best and cheapest way to get a decent pressured shower fed from our gravity fed...

Hi there,
First of all, apologies for the quality of the attached image - unfortunately the access to the underside of the boiler is quite tight, so I had to stitch a few pictures together to be able to show it all!
As mentioned in the title, I'm wondering how I would go about re-pressuring my...
I have recently moved into a house with the following heating system:
Traditional boiler (Worcester Greenstar Ri 24 with only one temperature dial and no pressure gauge)
Vented central heating (cold tank in loft)
Unvented hot water (Excelsior cylinder with pressure gauge plus white expansion...
Hi.
I have a hot water high pressure problem that my heating engineer (and other engineers that he has spoken to) cannot fix. I’m hoping someone on the forum can explain what is happening and how to resolve it.
My hot water system uses an air bubble at the top of the hot water tank for...

I am trying to make a pressure balancing loop for body jets in a shower. I have limited space so the loop has to be similar to those drawn.
I just need to know which one would work and if both, then which is better.
Thanks in advance :)
I wonder if anyone has any thoughts? Combi Logic 30 Boiler - constant pressure loss - no obvious leaking.
Few years ago we got an error code indicating pressure was below minimum. We resolved ourselves by using the manual and topping up per the guide. Sometime later, in some really cold...
Any idea why the pressure keeps going up on my combi boiler? I have a Vaillant Ectotec Plus about 15 years old. The heating has been off all summer and the filling loop taps are both fully closed but the pressure keeps going up. I empty about 2-3 litres of water from the system every 2-3 weeks...
I'm installing a new well pump, pressure tank, and toilet in a "shed" (note: local code is 2015 UPC based, and shed is insulated & conditioned) For some specific reasons I need to install a wall-mounted toilet. A "typical" well-performing model with an in-wall tank runs > $1000. There are...
I’ve been asked to install a rain/drench shower head.
I know these can be issue with low pressure.
Mains at garden tap is 1.5bar, combi boiler in loft about 5m up, then shower on second floor so below the combi.
I’m thinking this is 1 bar at the outlet and should be a good pressure for a 250mm...
I have a Grundfos Home Booster 3.0 in my rental property. Was installed 3 years ago, I've never been at the house since it was installed and nothing was every reported to me by tenants so don't know if this has been the case since day 1 or an issue....

Hello, does anyone know of a side fill valve that works in very low pressure situations?
I installed two separate new side fill valves on my concealed cistern today, a Fluidmaster and a Dudley, both didn't seal properly. From reading reviews and forums it looks like it's due to the very low...
Currently have 14Mx15mm run from combi to tap dhw. If I replaced the last 6M section with 22mm pipe would this help? Taps closer to boiler have no problems firing the boiler.

Hi all,
Recently moved into a new house and noticed the Greenstar boiler has low pressure on the dial.
Quick Google suggests using a key, valves, or fill loop to increase the pressure. Only problem being is I don't have either of those things.
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers.
Hey all,
Not a plumber - know just enough to be dangerous..
We just changed our water filters out in the house, and ever since our combo Navien 240e is discharging small amounts of water all day out the boiler side pressure valve. Boiler is off with summer (still using hot water side), but...
Hi folks. I've noticed recently that water is dripping from my Megaflow overflow pipe outside coinciding with the time the heating turns on to heat the water.
Whilst the water is dripping, the pressure on the Megaflow is reading around 8 bar.
Dripping from overflow stops and the pressure...
Can anyone recommend a good and quiet water pressure booster? Our house is on a hill and the city water comes up the hill from the street. Our current pressure at the house is around 27 and would like to increase is it substantially. Thank you
