cylinder

A cylinder (from Greek: κύλινδρος, romanized: kulindros, lit. 'roller', 'tumbler') has traditionally been a three-dimensional solid, one of the most basic of curvilinear geometric shapes. Geometrically, it can be considered as a prism with a circle as its base.
This traditional view is still used in elementary treatments of geometry, but the advanced mathematical viewpoint has shifted to the infinite curvilinear surface and this is how a cylinder is now defined in various modern branches of geometry and topology.
The shift in the basic meaning (solid versus surface) has created some ambiguity with terminology. It is generally hoped that context makes the meaning clear. Both points of view are typically presented and distinguished by referring to solid cylinders and cylindrical surfaces, but in the literature the unadorned term cylinder could refer to either of these or to an even more specialized object, the right circular cylinder.

I am closing up a property for 2-3 months and will be turning mains water off. Hot water is supplied by a pressurised water cylinder in the loft. Should I depressurise it before I leave the property? If so is it simply a matter of switching water off and run hot tap for a while? Any advice...

    Overflow issue combination cylinder

    Solar Thermal Cylinder Installation

I had a solar thermal cylinder installed last week. The installers had an issue with one of the valves and installed a 15mm pipe (see red arrow in picture) instead of the 22mm at the valve. Is this going to be an issue? The 15mm then feeds into the larger 22mm. However, my concern is that...

Hi, I have an unvented cylinder and lately even without the boiler central heating or hot water ‘on’, the system sounds like it’s constantly ‘on’. All through the night, it used to be silent except when running, but now it can sound like it’s ‘on’ constantly for days at a time. Surely this...

Should the pipe from the top of the Water Cylinder be hot rather than warm

Hi all, I have a Megaflo Heatrae Sadia running from a conventionla boiler. The boiler is 12 months old, the cylinder about 6 years old. The cylinder has two separate pipes in at the bottom left, both of which are too hot to hold for more than a second. There is a stone cold pipe going in the...

Pipe blown off mega flow cylinder due to pressure?

Hi, Two days ago we noticed we had no hot water. We have a mega flow tank/cylinder in our airing cupboard. It appeared that the lack of hot water could not be solved by setting the motorized valve to 'manual' so as to open the valve to allow heated water 'in' having been heated from the...

Has anyone fitted a hybrid ASHP/solar thermal/unvented cylinder system with gas boiler back up?

Good Afternoon All, This is my first time on the renewables forum so please forgive my ignorance.
