bar
The bar is a metric unit of pressure, but not part of the International System of Units (SI). It is defined as exactly equal to 100,000 Pa (100 kPa), or slightly less than the current average atmospheric pressure on Earth at sea level (approximately 1.013 bar). By the barometric formula, 1 bar is roughly the atmospheric pressure on Earth at an altitude of 111 metres at 15 °C.
The bar and the millibar were introduced by the Norwegian meteorologist Vilhelm Bjerknes, who was a founder of the modern practice of weather forecasting. The International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM) lists the bar as one of the "non-SI units [that authors] should have the freedom to use", but has declined to include it among the "non-SI units accepted for use with the SI". The bar has been legally recognised in countries of the European Union since 2004. The US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) deprecates its use except for "limited use in meteorology" and lists it as one of several units that "must not be introduced in fields where they are not presently used". The International Astronomical Union (IAU) also lists it under "Non-SI units and symbols whose continued use is deprecated".Units derived from the bar include the megabar (symbol: Mbar), kilobar (symbol: kbar), decibar (symbol: dbar), centibar (symbol: cbar), and millibar (symbol: mbar).
I plan on possibly swapping a Mira element exposed mixer. For a bar shower. The pipes extend 18mm from the Finnish wall. If I pull the olives off with an olive puller. I would be hoping then to fit the surface bath shower fixing kit. As long as there is a tiny bit of play on the pipes. I need...
We have located a leak from a shower enclosure...culprit is the riser bar, as soon as water is hitting the bar it's coming through into our kitchen ceiling. Having difficulty getting the fittings off the wall too to investigate .
How do I get access to the flow cartridge in the Hansgrohe Bar Shower. It has the control with the 50% mark on the flow side. See attached photo - the end piece pops off but hard to see whether the small button should also come off to slide off the cover and reveal the cartridge
Hi
We're looking for a negative shower pump two bar. What brand would you recommend? We've been encouraged to go for Stuart Turner £350 but it's way above my budget. Any thoughts?
I’m installing a new shower bar mixer using a fixing kit which means I have to drill into the tile each side of the pipes to install the bracket. I do not want to hit a pipe, what’s the best way of doing it?

Hi, I want to replace kitchen mixer, single lever tap, in rental flat, and not make flow any worse on hot, which is gravity fed with approx only 1m head, or 0.1 bar. I'm not sure of rating of current tap, but flow isn't terrible, but tap has been damaged and is now also stiff. Was going to...
My mixer bar shower gave up the ghost on its thermostatic mixer valve, so the water wouldn't heat up. I was advised to replace the mixer bar so I got a Briston Frenzy. It requires me to screw in a mounting plate over the existing pipes. However, the previous installed mounts are directly...

Looking for some advice regarding my shower. Its a thermostatic bar type supplied by a combi boiler. Recently it has started running cold after approximately 1minute. Suspected a cartridge issue. Rather than replace cartridge I replaced entire bar. I still have the same issue. It runs fine...
Hi all,
I had a problem recently with the pressure to the house exceeding the 3 bar that the caleffi pressure regulator was set to. The gauge on it indicated that static pressure would sometimes increase to 6 bar; it's not just a gauging issue because the HW cylinder next to it starts leaking...

I have a concealed 3 valve thermostat mixer shower which is around one year old.
