banging
In computer engineering and electrical engineering, bit banging is slang for any method of data transmission that employs software as a substitute for dedicated hardware to generate transmitted signals or process received signals. Software directly sets and samples the states of GPIOs (e.g., pins on a microcontroller), and is responsible for meeting all timing requirements and protocol sequencing of the signals. In contrast to bit banging, dedicated hardware (e.g., UART, SPI interface) satisfies these requirements and, if necessary, provides a data buffer to relax software timing requirements. Bit banging can be implemented at very low cost, and is commonly used in embedded systems.Bit banging allows a device to implement different protocols with minimal or no hardware changes. In some cases, bit banging is made feasible by newer, faster processors because more recent hardware operates much more quickly than hardware did when standard communications protocols were created.
Hi
Can someone please offer me some advice?
I am on a shared water main with 4 houses in my street and we are all experiencing banging from the coldwater pipes. I hear banging when I turn off my coldwater tap but also when my neighbours turn off their taps. I have also noticed that if my...

Hi guys, am in need of some help. I have checked all the posts on kettling and am not sure if this is my problem.
A couple of months ago, i replaced a radiator for an old dear who had gone on holiday and found one of her rooms was soaked through. It turned out, that the radiator had a pin hole...
I can't seem to get this problem sorted .I have now completely stripped the boiler to clean out the primary and secondary heat exchangers and fit a new diverter valve. Hopfully another good flushing will cure this problem . The boiler is getting too hot and the water is not circulating quickly...
Hello,
I have posted a separate thread on here about an ongoing problem, however I have now diagnosed what could be a blockage I hadn't found before, and think this warrants a new thread.
A brief summary of my previous issues. Boiler pumping over into feed/expansion tank, with rumbling and...
I have a Baxi solo 18 HE making a banging noise and was wondering if anyone knows what it could be ? I just had a new pump fitted as it stop working and ask the engineer what the bang noise was and he could tell me :(
We have a pressurised system that comes directly from the mains, we seem to have intermittent banging noises (almost like a pneumatic drill!) which seem to only effect the shower system (which is connect directly to the mains - no pump).
When the shower is running the noises go away. But if...

Hi,
We lived in a rented house and have a freestanding Ideal Mexico boiler. I'm guessing that it is at least 20 years old.
We find that it makes a banging noise when it is on. It tends to be at about 2 second intervals and we can hear it around the pipes and radiators in the house when it...

Hello all,
This is my first post. I really need some advice please. I have a Potterton Promax HE Plus, which is not under warranty anymore. I have had a number of problems with it and had to call the heatteam out at least 4 times to fix things on it. It has been ok for about a year. Now, there...
Hi my boiler is making a loud banging noise, when i first switch it on it fires up fine then after about 10 seconds makes a loud banging noise then shuts down, then follows a gurgling sound, I change the pump about 2months ago and can hear it working in the airing cupboard when my wife turns the...
I have a central heating system with a baxi bermuda 552 back boiler and for several years it has been "banging" quite loudly. This starts about an hour after the heating comes on but settles down again after approximately 30 minutes. It is so loud and has recently become louder! Do I need a...
Hi All,
I've got a Optimax 38 HE, which has been fairly reliable up until now.
This morning, the display was completely blank, and nothing is working.
Did all the usuall checks, fuses etc... still nothing.
So then started breaking it down into sections and seeing if anything was blown...
