Who makes the best pipe benders?
They all seem to be priced around the same.

Its something I've never thought about - but my hilmors rock

old hils were made by bend it now

roths are krap so i hear, made in china!

why spend all that money when an elbow only costs 12p?

I have worn my Rothernberger's out! bent the pin that supports the roller on the 22mm side.........

It does seem to clue you up on the quality (or lack of it)
of the pipe you are using .
I though pulled bends had less resistance.
(if that matters with todays pumps + tiny matchbox homes )

every rothenberger ive used creases the pipe and the hook digs into the pipe as well.. rubbish

hilmor or bend it now

Sounds like Hilmor is the one. I'll stay away from Rothenberger
What about Bahco? They look the coolest but they're the most expensive.

Go with Benditnow. They are the really the original real Hilmor and from what I read on this forum, actually cheaper and better than from the now foreign new Hilmor.
Why pay more for something produced in the Far East when you can have the British made product?
I have a couple of the Hilmor frame benders that must be 50 years old and they are still perfect.

I have new hilmor, totally spot on.. about a year old and never creases/ripples the pipe etc..

I upgraded my cheap silverline bender to a nice new hilmor one and it was a good decision. Thanks for your advise, I'm pleased with my purchase.

I've had my hilmor about 11 years. Worn and battered but still does the job. However I have gone through a few runners (if that's what they are called)?

That site ontop of the pipe ?

I have a Rothenberger but its not very good the guides are crap. I inherited a very nice old one from a retired plumber. Unfortunately I don't know what model it is but fantastic, good quality.

I'm looking at buying a floor standing one. Saw one being used the other day. They are an awesome bit of kit, just bloody expensive for a decent one.

I know. Always weary of second hand though as they are still about ÂŁ100.00. Will be gutted if I only get 3 months out of it.

I have 2 of the old Himor frame benders and only have the original steel formers, which are indestructible and just need to be rubbed with steel wool and oiled occasionally.
The steel formers are much heavier than the modern aluminium formers, but I much prefer the old type.

I've got my dad's old hillmor, about twenty years old. It's getting tougher bending 22mm, but that might be my age! I've also got his old tripod bender, bending 28mm is great fun.

Apologises to the OP.
Leo! How you doing, missed you dry wit my friend and how`s that 4 legged babe magnet of yours?

Haha, see you haven`t changed then, good on yer.
Google the name of the man you most traded insults with. ;)

Tried googling, what shall I type after his user name?

????

No joy, and I'm banned from pm,ing you. I'm all a bundle of fascinated.

I was still about when all that happened, shame really. It was a good larf on here. But it got away from some people.

My benditnow's good. Very occasionally ripples a bend on 22 but then I give it a wipe over and it doesn't do it again. The hook's a bit rough though - had to put a bit of tape over it - especially for chrome pipe. Tried a brand new Hilmor and it was nowhere near as good as my benditnow.

The Bahco ones are lovely to use, but cost a lot and only do one size.

Why bother pulling bends? I just connect up a bit of hose with a couple of Jubilee clips. Much less hassle :)
