Had today to repair leaking pop up waste on plastic vanity basin. The customer says was done before by a n other. The problem is the over flow is a banjo type, meaning tail of waste is to short to attach to pop up part on other side of over flow and use washers. Does any one know of a pop up that has longer tail (the waste going through hole in basin)?

I don't fit them anymore, they always break, especially with kids in a house. I use a non mechanical waste that looks terrific called a captive waste. It contains a polished chrome swivel plug that doesn't come out to get lost and no mechanical parts that can get broken:

I agree captive wastes are nice, got to convince my customer of that . Just wondered if any longs tail pop ups on the market, before offering an alternative

Offer the captive as a long term alternative. Pop ups are cack, as are sprung wastes. Captives have no mechanical parts that can break and no plug and chain to cause bother either.

Agree on this one, but mostly use a click clack, these pop up wastes drive me crackers !

Next time why not try a captive instead. By the way the same ones that Screwfix sell for £9.99 are available on Ebay for about a fiver each.

All my customers have been impressed and rave about the captive wastes. Simplicity, functionality, they work and don't break!
