mystery
Mystery is a fiction genre where the nature of an event, usually a murder or other crime, remains mysterious until the end of the story. Often within a closed circle of suspects, each suspect is usually provided with a credible motive and a reasonable opportunity for committing the crime. The central character is often a detective (such as Sherlock Holmes), who eventually solves the mystery by logical deduction from facts presented to the reader. Some mystery books are non-fiction. Mystery fiction can be detective stories in which the emphasis is on the puzzle or suspense element and its logical solution such as a whodunit. Mystery fiction can be contrasted with hardboiled detective stories, which focus on action and gritty realism.
Mystery fiction can involve a supernatural mystery in which the solution does not have to be logical and even in which there is no crime involved. This usage was common in the pulp magazines of the 1930s and 1940s, whose titles such as Dime Mystery, Thrilling Mystery and Spicy Mystery offered what were then described as complicated to solve and weird stories: supernatural horror in the vein of Grand Guignol. That contrasted with parallel titles of the same names which contained conventional hardboiled crime fiction. The first use of "mystery" in that sense was by Dime Mystery, which started out as an ordinary crime fiction magazine but switched to "weird menace" during the later part of 1933.

Hello, I had a new bathroom installed 18months ago, I have since discovered a leak under the shower tray. We are getting over half a pint of water from it per week.
Its very weird because it appears to all be sealed, and the drip is coming from a bit of filler between the tray and tiles.
I'm...

I've replaced the plate heat exchanger 3 weeks ago. Since then the hot water pressure has gradually reduced to a mere trickle. So you would think a block in the...
Here's the back up poll for people who were ineligible for the free boiler, but nevertheless put pen to paper in an orgy of rhyming couplets and iambic pentameter:

Hi, I am currently fitting an ensuite to my bedroom and am running a waste pipe along the floor joints to the toilet, but on lifting the floor, I have found a 35mm black rubber pipe. Its running at right angles to the direction I am going, and I have no idea what it was ever used for. I live...

Hi,
Both my kitchen and bathroom sinks are not draining water. I had a plumber in the property last night who used very strong drain cleaner and a plunger to try and clear the blockage. His advise was the blockage is happening "far away" in one of the pipes leaving the building.

Just went to a house that has 2 bogs. 1 upstairs and one down stairs. Apparently the one down stairs has just started to bubble and drain slowly. The one upstairs is fine. So the downstairs one is a straight run of pipe about 3 metres through the kitchen to an elbow with an access that goes...
There is a radiator leaking where you turn it on / off. Small trickle of water which one Kleenex would easily
absorb.
However, about 15cm away from this there is a giant damp patch on the carpet of around 30cm in diameter.
I am assuming the two problems are connected but cannot explain why...
Hello, this is my first post..
My kitchen sink is strangely and completely blocked. In an attempt to clear the blockage my friend and I (we are both not plumbers) have done the following:
1. Taken the bottom off the bottle trap and cleaned it. After reassembling the bottle trap we poured...
Hi all,
As the title suggests I have a slightly unusual problem that I wanted to see if anyone else had ever experienced (or had any ideas about).
I live in (and own) a top floor flat in a 5-story block that was built in 2008. Ever since I moved in (I was the first one in) there's been an...

1. Does anyone recognise the attached photo? It is from a shower tray that is being removed from my local merchants so I can get I at a steal of price BUT it has no normal waste hole, just what I am going to try to attach a photo of.

I've had a google around and don't seem to be able to find the solution for this toilet that won't stop running. It's bad timing too as I just had a meter installed! I'm really hoping someone here might be able to assist me as I can't really afford a call-out and a subsequent markup on any...
