condensing
Condensing boilers are water heaters fueled by gas or oil. They achieve high efficiency (typically greater than 90% on the higher heating value) by condensing water vapour in the exhaust gases and so recovering its latent heat of vaporisation, which would otherwise have been wasted. This condensed vapour leaves the system in liquid form, via a drain. In many countries, the use of condensing boilers is compulsory or encouraged with financial incentives.
Hi I have had somebody in to look at a relative's GlowWorm boiler which makes an intermittent whistling/howling noise. Its 8 years old and has been serviced every year and apart from this intermittent noise it works fine.
They have had somebody out to them and they have recommended a new...
Hello,
My second post :-)
Recently I had a Vaillent 418 ecofit pure open vent boiler installed onto an old system ( the installers were rubbish, over promised and under delivered)
I am now looking at getting the best efficiency out of the system and the boiler by getting the return temp below...
been to look at this boiler to "service" numerous faults with install.
Tried to fire the heating but boiler did nothing. Fires up on hot water fine.
External Honeywell wireless stat and 2 channel timer calling for heat, 230 at heating controls on board.
What voltages and when should I be...
Hi I'm newly qualified. Why would a boiler be 23mb at the meter on working pressure and 19mb at boiler inlet pressure and 14mb burner pressure. This is fine as per the MIs but i thought there was only supposed to be a 1mb drop.
hi,
My portfolio job mentor doesn't do a combustion analysis on noncondensing combi boiler. His opinion was that combustion analysis is only for condensing boiler. As I understand from book knowledge, we have to do on the noncondensing boiler as well. So am I right?

Not a Boiler man but I have been to a house where the condensate pipe terminates into a 110mm pipe outside that looks like a drain but on closer inspection is a soak away. my question is, is this within the regulations or just lazy installation?
Hi All,
Happy Sunday!
In my house there is a kitchen extension with Ufh connected to glow worm 38cxi. It has a blender valve and a circulation pump. both this and the radiator circuit are controlled by a wall stat. I don't think this works at all well. I'm planning to separate the rad...

Hi all, noticed a small damp patch a few days ago under the boiler, now today its become a small puddle.
Don`t notice any leaks on the incoming pipe joints.
I see a 2006 sticker on the front, so do you reckon its on its way out??
Hi all,
I have a gerkros oil fired, high efficiency condensing boiler with a Riello burner. The issue we have at the moment is that it heats water only when the control panel is set to Hot water only. When we set it to central heating and hot water it won't heat either?
I believe the maker is...

We've been looking for a quality pellet boiler at lower cost than the ETA's that we normally install.
We have 'value' offerings from a well established UK company with a good reputation, however it isn't a 'name'
The advantage of this - it comes with a brand...
hi everyone, back to a finish a job tomorrow with my boss who is gas safe registered.
we have installed a new glow worm c30 combi boiler in a new build garage which has a slight pitched roof.
we have the flue from boiler going straight up in two sections. the first section is 1meter long and...
What causes condensing oil boilers to stop condensing?
Ive been to a couple of boilers recently where the traps have dried up!!
I dont have this problem with worcester bosch, mainly warmflow and grants, what causes this?
My boss doesnt seem to answer me when i ask him about this, just says its...
Our 14 year old WB Oil Fired combi has sprung a leak, engineer says either in the Heatslave tank or the boiler tank. He says it's not worth repairing.
There's an unused 26/32 for sale on ebay at the moment.
Our model has a conventional flue, with silencer kit fitted. The flue exits straight...
I was servicing a warmflow condensing utility boiler today . It must be in about 6 years as its dated sep 2009. Its right tight to the wall at the left hand side with no pipework at that side. Seems a little damp low down and u can feel it off the jacket. Isnt the drain down valve either. It is...
Somebody decided to close the my previous thread before I got a chance to answer back! I hope I didn't violate any of the forum's rules. If I did, I apologise.
But now getting back to the subject, everybody said I was wrong. Why? I did not expect to be "yelled" at in that manner. I was...

Hello everybody! I'm new to this forum and I'm popping in to ask this question. Here is my problem:
I'm having underfloor heating installed at home. It's going in a 7cm thick cement screed. The whole house is going to have this type of heating. I have the understanding that the ideal...

Morning,
When carrying out servicing or repairs on the worcester greenstar boilers does anyone know how to disable the condensing mode? As in when you have the two inverted 'T' flashing. I'm always waiting for ever to wait for it to finish before the boiler will switch back to normal operating...
Hi there,
We had a new combi boiler installed and decided to change the radiators at the same time. I went on to numerous websites calculating the appropriate Btu's and sent these to the plumber who agreed they were correct and stated he would base the radiators on these calculations.
We...
