Discuss Strange smell suddenly coming from boiler in the Plumbing Jobs | The Job-board area at PlumbersForums.net

Our Vaillant boiler was installed roughly 6 years ago, and, until recently, it’s been problem-free.

Over the last few weeks/months, though, there’s been an occasional rattle/rumble/screeching(!) sound when we run the taps (usually remedied by turning them on fully for a few seconds), and tonight I noticed a strong chemical smell in our hallway - that looks to be coming from the boiler - which no one in the house has smelt before today.

What could be causing this? Help, please!

Thanks for your advice, Matchless.plumb. Any idea what could be causing the sound, other than air in the pipes?
Without me being there it would be difficult but if you had a chance to upload a video we could give you a precise answer. I would assume it will be a dirty system but it could be also coming from other parts
