Hi all,

We've got an old Sunvic TLX 2000 electromechanical thermostat on the wall in our hall. It looks considerably older than our combi boiler (Ariston E-Combi) which is probably less than 5 years old. How can i tell if the thermostat is wired up to the boiler or if its a relic that just hasn't been removed? If its not operational then there are no thermostats in the flat as the radiators don't have TRVs. I have removed the front cover from the TLX and find it absolutely obscured by dust balls but i don't want to mess with it any more in case its connected to the mains.

Thanks for the help

I thought it was one thing to do tests on low voltage DC circuits with a multimeter but have always steered away from anything at 240V, i'm not an electrician.

Probably best getting someone in who is qualified to check it out for you then

All you need to do is turn stat as low as it will go, turn on boiler for heating, does heating come on ? or if heating is on and you turn down stat does heating go off ?
