Hi,

Recently I noticed some leaking from the sump cover on my boiler (Ideal Logic Combi 35). Seems to happen when the CH is on. Over night I leave a paper towel underneath the boiler is which wet by the following morning. I have uploaded a photo highlighting where the water is leaking from. Today a gas engineer popped round, inspected it and replaced the sump cover but it's dripping again. Also, twice in the last two months F1 has flashed on the display and I've topped up the pressure as per the user's manual.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Don't take the cover off your boiler as you need to be gas safe registered to do so

Best get a gas safe engy that knows ideals out common fault that needs addressing sooner rather then later

This must be a common fault I'm waiting for that seal, its leaking from the joint above Proberly from behind the clamp

On one off them it could be leaking from anywhere.

As far as I know its only the heat only that leak from the sumps, not the combis. But no doubt there will be one lol

These are renowned for splitting. ( your boiler engineer is wrong replacing the cover)

It's another part that needs replacing soon, as if not it will rot through the bottom of the boiler.

Please get a gas safe engineer asap. And please don't remove the cover.

Taking the case off your boiler is a big NO NO. Please put t back on.

See this brings back up the old argument about home owners doing there own boiler repairs, or other gas works on there own property & gas items , if they are NOT doing it for gain ie, getting paid or working on someone else's items, then it is not illegal, its his house his items and his choice if he wants to mess around with them , Nothing you or I or GS can do anything about

Sorry but I disagree, It does not matter if it is their own boiler, their own home or not or doing it for gain. It quite clearly states in the gas safety regs & by law that it is illegal for anyone to perform gas related work unless they are deemed competent to do so. Whether getting paid or not or whether it is for themselves it does not matter! They HAVE to be competent. And in the UK the only persons deemed competent are Gas Safe Registered engineers period...
