Has anyone done the Hetas H003DS course to install woodburners? I'm very busy but just like the idea of installing woodburners and think it'll get me some good customers which will crossover to the gas side. But, I don't want to chuck money and 3-days of my life away. Worth the £800 odd to do it? Or the logburner fad long gone now?

I have been thinking the same is it worth it. I have got a wood burner job lined up, the customer is just waiting for me to become a registered installer.

Can you guys post when you make a decision? I have also been thinking this

only one person can answer whether it's worth the time and money to do the course.
YOU!
aswell the first year registration like the gas is double money,
and it costs more than gas, about £500.
also registration/qualification is now as most things subject to redoing in 5 years, thats a 2 day course.

gastec. if you have a customer who is waiting and agreeable,
do the course then fit the burner for them and use the install to get the Hetas area boss to check it.
yes that is part of the registration, probation- just 1 install check needed

Hetas guys. Are installs on the up at the moment? I've had so many people asking about burner installs its insane. This is why I'm contemplating it.

Just done mine so got the hat trick. Gas safe Oftec and Hetas More chance of work imo

A lot of them go in unregistered or DIY. You'll get a surprised look when you explain what's required to do it properly. Also for my area at least, a few specialists with showrooms have the upper hand.

For me, I didn't renew when my ticket ran out. It may be something we look into again soon but I would be wary of doing it for one job, as Simon F said, the costs to train, register, additional gear etc can be prohibitive unless you can get a steady stream of income from it.
