Sharp Point

Just left a job literally, tenant contacted landlord with smell of gas. Tightness okay, gas sniffer didn’t pick up anything either. I got out the analyser and 50ppm in airing cupboard, tenant had rammed a ton of junk in the cupboard and dislodged the condensate pipe. The trap was bone dry....she hasn’t used heating yet, as it’s warm.

Lucky girl

Switch boiler off and going back tomorrow and sort the condo out

Well reported Bog ...many people think that the condensate pipes are just drains.
Condensate outfalls are not. Any work to a condensate output comes under the same regulations as the flue. Some people think its just an overflow type arrangement like a toilet. IT is NOT. have a good weekend Mr Bog ....chking

how did it come out compression joint or the glue failed on a fitting

Doesn’t the condensate trap inside the boiler prevent the flue gasses from entering the condensate drain? Which is why the mi says to fill the trap before commissioning

Condensing Boilers were stipulated by John Prescott ..deputy prime minister ...Tony Blairs doorman
mp for Hull ...years ago. which is where Ideal are based ...thats why it happened ...prematurely ...and Ideal still are the highest volume boiler in Uk

I’m in two minds on ideal at the moment CHKG, one half wants me to carry on with the logic and the other half is ready to run. I’ve been told that the main hex issue has been resolved...

I kinda like it, dead straightforward to fit and commission at a regular price, that and the baxi 600 are my mid range preferable combi’s.

Bogrodder is correct. For methane (natural gas) at atmospheric pressure the dew point is around 55 degrees C. Once the return water temp is above this point the boiler is unlikely to condense.

So in the summer for hot water production, condensate production is minimal.

Hi, basic question, any insight much appreciated. Looking to have an outdoor tap in my front porch fed from 15mm pex coming up from suspended floor. Pic 1 is inside porch, pex temporarily clipped to give an idea of pipe placement (ignore shoddy blockwork of booted cowboy builder!), Pic 2 is...
