Well I spoke to Vauxhall direct to open up a case as I am close to the end of my warranty terms but the guys at my local dealership were quite comical about the situation and said something along the lines of "we wont know whats caused the clutch failure until we get the gearbox off so we will get you booked in and argue about it then"

I also have a solicitor poised to send a letter on my behalf if needs be but advised me to try and make a deal like pay half of the costs as it could be painful trying to take Vauxhall to court for it

Yesterday my van went in for investigation at my local dealership. They said that the clutch had less than 10% wear on it but had "hotspots" indicating driver abuse and therefore wouldn't be covered under warranty (not even prepared to try the warranty process). The cost of the total repair will be £1100 with them looking after me which included a new clutch, slave cylinder and various misc bits.

I was unhappy with this so I spoke to the Vauxhall case handlers, after numerous calls between myself and the dealership they agreed to cover 70% of the costs for the total repair.

I took a photo of the clutch while I was there including the "hotspot" they were trying to blag as driver error which I will try and upload.

The end result is actually better than I was expecting but I do think it is somewhere near fair. I do not like the fact of being a winging customer but it just shows you if you complain to the right people in the right places you can sometimes come to an amicable result.

Be honest now, was it to many wheel spins outside mc Donald's?
