Pressure Relief Valve Overflowing & Grundfos MQ Pump pressure

I have a Grundfos MQ series domestic pump and it has started cycling on and off. The pressure at the outlet reaches approx 2 bar of pressure and the pump shuts off. The pressure then immediately drops as it overflows out of the Pressure Relief valve. Once the pressure gets to 1.5 bar the pump...

Why is my mains water PRV not maintaining 3 bar?

Hi all, I had a problem recently with the pressure to the house exceeding the 3 bar that the caleffi pressure regulator was set to. The gauge on it indicated that static pressure would sometimes increase to 6 bar; it's not just a gauging issue because the HW cylinder next to it starts leaking...

    Monza heatline hot water issue

Good evening , Heatline monza, pressure gauge rises and reacts as if air hitting the exchanger, boiler cuts out then back on it then opens the prv. This only happens when there is a demand for hot water. Heating seems to run smoothly with minimal increase in pressure. I checked expansion...

PRV valve loosing pressure. Just replace..again?

Hi, We have a Glowworm 38CXI combi boiler. Back in September last year I noticed that it was losing pressure and I was having to re-presurise it almost daily. From looking outside I could see the pipe coming from the PRV valve was leaking quite a bit. As such I got a plumber in to check over...

Leaking Overflow from Baxi DuoTec Combi 28 HE A. is it faulty PRV ?

Leaking Overflow from Baxi DuoTec Combi 28 HE A. Is it a faulty PRV ? Pressure gauge is showing zero so no central heating or hot water. When I try to re-pressurise by opening the fill valve, the gauge will only rise to just over one bar and the CH will then work. BUT... all the water rushes...

Fluctuating cold water pressure up from PRV

Hi, we're experiencing fluctuation readings in a PRV here's the story: Cold water into premises is 7 bar. This runs unregulated to four outlets: Kitchen sink Outside tap Washing machine Dishwasher The cold water to the first floor runs through a PRV set to 3 bar. This then supplies: Central...

New combination PRV is humming loudly

Hi, I have just replaced the combination pressure reducing valve on the inlet to my unvented got water cylinder. The new valve is exactly the same model as the old valve, but hums very loudly when any hot tap is turned on. The only time there is no humming is when a tap is fully open. You can...

    PRV whining noise

I know that there are some posts already on this subject but our situation is slightly different. Most other posts indicate that the whine occurs when a tap is turned on but our noise is present at all times even when there is no flow of water through any taps etc. We have two PRVs fitted one...

Fitting a PRV in a tight space.

I'm about to replace my house stopcock (gatevalve) with a new one (Pegler Lever Ball) and thought I'd take the opportunity to add a Honeywell D05F Pressure Reducing Valve and a Fernox Electrolytic Scale Reducer. However, 'the book' says the PRV must be followed by a straight length of pipe...

Caleffi Pressure reduction valve causing noise

OK I have recently installed a Caleffi PRV to a 28mm pipe. Incoming pressure I am informed by local plumber is 7 bar and I have reduced this to 3 bar. The trouble is that the prv is causing a nasty vibration/humming noise when using any of the taps or shower down stream of the unit. Any ideas

PRV discharge pipework rendered into the wall

So, noticed this afternoon that the same jokers that filled my customers drains up with render (posted some pics in Matchless Plumb's "good or bad idea" thread) have also rendered the PRV discharge from the combi into the wall. Its a quick fix, just needs the end of the discharge hacksawing off...

Does PRV have to be next to megaflo

Have a customer with a leaking prv on the cold water set for a megaflo. He wants it removing, as he has had a prv fitted on the incoming main to the house - apparently by someone from megaflo ( not sure if he’s got that right). What I want to check is; can there just be a prv on incoming main...

    Replaced PRV and still leaking

the PRV has been replaced twice in the past few months and this seems to cure the leak temporarily, however the leak is now worse and is clearly caused by a different problem. The pressure gauge rises quickly upto 3 bars, (we release the pressure manually) but then when the heating/water is off...

Adjusting the PRV to go to 4 bar..?

We've installed a new 25mm water mains in to replace a led mains in and the pressure is so high we've had to put pressure reducing valve on and cap at 3 bar. The flowrate from the tap is about 10 litres per minute but we're expecting at least 15l/m. The taps/showers are rated to 3bar but I want...

    Boiler prv and expansion vessel

Hi. I’m looking for some advice. I recently bled my radiators then over pressurised the boiler (one of the filling valves got left open) this led to the prv opening and draining water. I got a plumber out and he said the valve didn’t reseat properly due to debris in the pipe so he flushed some...
