olives
The olive, botanical name Olea europaea, meaning 'European olive', is a species of small tree or shrub in the family Oleaceae, found traditionally in the Mediterranean Basin. The species is cultivated in all the countries of the Mediterranean, as well as in Australia, New Zealand, North and South America and South Africa. Olea europaea is the type species for the genus Olea.
The olive's fruit, also called an "olive", is of major agricultural importance in the Mediterranean region as the source of olive oil; it is one of the core ingredients in Mediterranean cuisine. The tree and its fruit give their name to the plant family, which also includes species such as lilacs, jasmine, Forsythia, and the true ash trees (Fraxinus).
When in shrub form, it is known as Olea europaea 'Montra', dwarf olive, or little olive. The shrub does not produce any fruit.
I know you can still buy them here and there but many places have stopped doing them and I just had another order cancelled from a company who are no longer stocking them. Just bought a bag of 250 off ebay from a guy who was selling his last one. What's going on?
Hi,
I have to tee into an old 3/4" pipe for a new shower.
I read somwhere you can get 3/4" olives to go into standard 22mm compression fittings.
Is this the done thing? If so are they readily available?
cheers!

Are 22mm olives ok on 3/4 imperial copper only I fitted a 22mm ballofix on old bath supplies earlier and I didn't feel them grip as well as normal and although they weren't weeping at all I feel a bit paranoid about now?
I normally prefer to use copper olives. I feel that they are easier to seal and find that if I want to remove an olive to make alterations I can remove a copper olive fairly easily but I think the brass olives tend to bite into the copper pipe making removal difficult.
What do others use? Are...

Hi, I am a new member, currently updating my one pipe system. The problem is the old system used 15 mm TRVs and lockshields and I am now finishing in 10mm plastic pipe. I read that collapsing olives to reduce from 15 to 10 mm should not be used with plastic pipe, but I have been told that it is...

What is the technical difference between a brass and copper olive? As far as I can tell, from my experience, you are more likely to crush a copper olive. That said I have never had a leak from a copper olive but have had the odd one from a brass olive.
I know some guys only want brass olives? Why?

Hi
1st post - so be nice to me ;)
I often have to remove old olives - and keep thinking to myself - there must be an easier way to do this? Is there any kind of special tool on the market or maybe a technique that I haven't thought of?
Currently I use the following method. Not very...
